1939-2010

Roy W. Scott, 71, Spring Hill, died suddenly July 25, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital from a short, complicated illness.

He was born on May 2, 1939, in Ozark, Mo., to Calvin and Mildred Scott.

He met Frankie, his wife of 42 years, while working in California. Eventually, he took a job with Western Union and they were then married in Miami, Okla. He continued working for Western Union for more than thirty years during which time he was transferred to the Kansas City office and soon settled at their home in Spring Hill.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting in his spare time, but mostly enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and just spending time with his family and friends. Most recently Roy greatly enjoyed spending time with his coffee shop buddies. He often said that he was fortunate to have found this family to love, but his family says that they are the ones that were blessed to have had him as their husband and dad, and he accepted them as his own.

He truly never met someone he did not like. He made good friends throughout his life, including co-workers, neighbors, others that he met after his retirement, and recently while at home fighting a courageous battle against complications from diabetes. Friends and family attest to the fact that they never saw Roy in a bad mood.
