Work on the 223rd Street railroad underpass project at Spring Hill will require the closing of one lane of Dunn Drive and parts of 223rd Street beginning Monday.
Miami County Engineer Penny Evans announced the work Tuesday.
Sewer pipe will be installed and grading will be performed on Dunn Drive, 222nd Place and on 223rd Street from Roosevelt Street to the Dunn intersection.

Tournament time will kick off for several schools next week, and three area teams will play a big role at one local tournament.
Annually, the Spring Hill Boys’ Invitational Basketball Tournament features some of the best teams in the area, and this year is no exception. Spring Hill, Louisburg and Osawatomie will be a part of the eight-team tournament that also includes Hogan Prep, Piper, Sumner Academy, Metro Academy and Bishop Ward.

 Construction of the 223rd Street railroad underpass project, for which plans began more than a year ago, will soon be under way.
Miami County Engineer Penny Evans announced Dec. 24 that APAC-Kansas, whose $5.4 million bid was selected for the project, intends to begin construction in early Feburary 2009, weather permitting.
In a letter to stakeholders, Evans said the contract with the Kansas Department of Transportation allows construction to continue through summer 2010. However, she said, APAC-Kansas intends to complete construction sooner, if possible.
As soon as construction begins, Woodland Road and 223rd Street will be closed to traffic at the project site. A detour route around the project has been designated as follows: North from 223rd Street on Webster Street, then east on 207th, south on Woodland Road, east on 215th Street, south on Ridgeview Road, east on 223rd Street, south on Renner Road, and west on 231st Street back to Woodland Road.
