Meda Mae Evinger, 86, Eudora, died Feb. 23, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Paola, to Noah Wesley and Zula Ethel Huston McRoberts. She has lived in Douglas County most of her life.

On March 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Lawrence O. Evinger in Kansas City, Kan. Together they had four sons and one daughter.
She was a housewife and mother and worked at Eudora Nursing Center as a laundry supervisor before retiring. She enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with her grandchildren and family, playing cards, watching game shows and Lifetime movies, and listening to country music.

She also enjoyed socializing and was a friend to all. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Larry, one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include her children, Terry Lee Evinger, David Lawrence Evinger and Rodney Ray Evinger, all of Eudora, one daughter, Karen Evinger of Lawrence; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071, (913) 294-2372, with the service to follow at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses program.
