KANSAS CITY, Mo. — St. Teresa’s, one of the perennial girls’ basketball powers in Missouri, slowed the Spring Hill Broncos down just enough in the first half to hang on for an 11-point win Tuesday. St. Teresa’s won the game 59-47, despite being outscored five points in the second half. Spring Hill dug too deep of a hole in the first half to climb out of against St. Teresa’s. The Broncos were outscored by seven points in the first quarter, 15-8. St. Teresa’s went on an 18-8 run in the second quarter, making it a 17 point lead at the intermission. Spring Hill battled to stay with St. Teresa’s in the second half. The Broncos were outscored 14-13 in the third quarter and then closed out the game with an 18-12 fourth quarter run. Ashley Miller sank three 3-pointers to lead the Broncos and finished with a team-high 13 points. Ericka Simpson scored nine points. Jami Hodge added eight points. Stacey Czereda finished with seven points. Other players scoring for the Broncos were Courtney Swope and Rhi Lloyd. Spring Hill made 12 of 16 from the free-throw line. St. Teresa’s sank 14 of 24.
