The Prairie View boys’ basketball team spent most of Tuesday night playing catch-up.

As hard as the Buffalos worked in the second half to get back in the contest, the double-digit deficit they faced proved to be too much as Anderson County went on to record a 59-45 home victory.

“We were never really in the game,” Prairie View coach Tyler Applegate said. “We dug a big hole and could not get out of it. Anderson County shot very well in the first half, and we let them have easy shots. We did a poor job of rebounding on both ends.”

Taylor Brown scored a game-high 19 points. Jordan Kees added 12, Alex Watson five, Ryan Welker four, Keaton Hines three and Cody Phillips two.

“Taylor hit some shots in the second half after the game was already decided,” Applegate said. “He had some nice steals, but just like the whole team, he played poorly in the first half.”

Prairie View cut Anderson County’s lead to 12 points in the second half, but wasn’t able to get any closer than that.
“We competed well in the second half,” Applegate said.

Prairie View will have its annual winter courtwarming ceremony tonight prior to the boys’ varsity game against Jayhawk-Linn.
