Bronco boys beat on boards, free-throw line in 73-61 loss PDF Print E-mail

LENEXA — Rebounds, free throws and turnovers provided St. James with all the advantage they needed in a 73-61 victory against Spring Hill on Tuesday evening.
Spring Hill was outrebounded 31 to 17.

St. James made more free throws than Spring Hill attempted, sinking 22 of 27 for 82 percent shooting. The Broncos made eight of 12 from the line.
Spring Hill also turned the ball over 16 times.

The combination of the three proved to be too much for Spring Hill to come back from in the 12-point loss.

St. James held a 17-12 advantage in the first quarter and went on a 22-13 run in the second quarter to make it a 14-point game at the half.

The Broncos pulled to within nine in the third quarter with a 16-11 run.

St. James edged Spring Hill 23-20 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Jordan Miller led the Broncos with 15 points. He added four assists, two rebounds and two steals.

Mitch Watson finished with 12 points. Derrick Koehn scored 11 points with three assists and two steals. Brady Donahue hit double figures with 10 points and added three rebounds.

Other players scoring for Spring Hill were Rob Sharemet, Nathan Stiles and Nick Gilliland.
