Paola junior running back Skylar Hawkins, who opened the season with five touchdown runs against Baldwin, was named the Neal Harris High School Football Player of the Week. Hawkins ran the ball 28 times for 223 yards. He has an 82-yard touchdown run come back on a holding call. The award is sponsored by Neal Harris Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing and 610 Sports Radio. There is also a chance for schools to earn money with the honor. Paola families can go to www.610Sports.com and download a coupon for a $10 discounted furnace tune-up. For every coupon returned to Harris, $6.10 will be donated to the school. At the end of the season, the school that has returned the most coupons will receive an additional $1,000 donation. From now until Nov. 30, Harris and 610 Sports Radio will be choosing six high school football players of the week (three from Kansas and three in Missouri) as well as one area high school marching band of the week. Hawkins was mentioned on the air during a broadcast.
