Congratulations to the class of 2009

This will be a busy weekend in Miami, Linn and Franklin counties with eight high school graduations occurring in our coverage area Saturday and Sunday. It’s a time of celebration for the graduates, their families, teachers, administrators, friends, church families and other community members.

Members of the class of 2009 at Paola, Osawatomie, Louisburg, Spring Hill, Prairie View, Jayhawk-Linn, Pleasanton and Central Heights have worked hard to reach this threshold in their lives, and they deserve our congratulations, our encouragement and our respect for a job well done. As we embark upon our busy schedules this weekend, keep an eye out for pedestrians.
Streets around these eight high schools, restaurants and churches are bound to be clogged as our communities celebrate. Be patient and respectful. During times of celebration, people become distracted and do not always use the best judgment when driving or walking across streets in traffic. Give yourself extra time to reach your destinations this weekend. And please don’t drink and drive.
