The Jayhawk-Linn boys’ and girls’ track and field teams continue to show how their quality makes up for their lack of depth. Despite bringing a total of 27 athletes, the Jayhawks won both team titles Tuesday at the Pleasanton Invitational. The Jayhawk boys, with 119 points, defeated runner-up Central Heights, with 109 points. The Jayhawk girls had a little more separation, defeating runner-up Christ Prep by 30 points. Steven Mann dominated in the triple jump, soaring to a winning jump of 45 feet, more than 7 feet ahead of his nearest competitor. He also won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 11 inches, and the 100-meter dash in 11.57 seconds. Teammate Matt Hardman was second in the long jump. Briar Snyder continued his domination in the hurdles, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 15.33 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 41.34 seconds. Snyder teamed with Ryan Sutherland, Dylon Thyer and Terry Baker to win the 4x400 relay in 3:35.06. Sutherland also won the 400 dash in 54.59 seconds. The Buffalos also had a strong showing in the relays. The girls’ 4x100 and 4x400 relays placed second in 55.33 seconds and 4:33.63, respectively. The boys’ 4x800 relay was second in 9:08.
