Mabel Webb, 95, Paola, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at North Point Skilled Nursing Center in Paola.

She was born July 26, 1913, in Paola, to Andy and Ann Strunks Smith. She attended school in Paola, and July 6, 1936, she was united in marriage to Dale Melvin Webb in Kansas City, Mo. They made their home in Paola and raised two sons.

Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, crocheting, reading, writing and needlework. She loved to dance and loved listening to music. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandsons; three brothers, Adrian Smith, Floyd Smith and Pete Smith; and one sister, Dorothy Stowell.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Webb of Rantoul and Leroy Carkhuff of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with visitation at 10 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071, (913) 294-2372. Burial will follow in the Paola Cemetery.
