A lifelong resident of Louisburg, she most recently resided at Vintage Park assisted living facility. Born Jan. 11, 1917, she graduated from Louisburg High School in 1935 and attended business school in Kansas City until her marriage. She and Charles E. Moews were married Aug. 18, 1937, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Louisburg, where she was an active parishioner and member of the Altar Society until her death. They became the parents of a son, Robert “Bob,” in 1944. She and her husband worked together as farmers in the Louisburg community until their retirement to a small acreage north of Louisburg in 1968. As an avid fisherman, she was thrilled to have a fishing lake in her own backyard. She was a wonderful gardener and excellent cook, well known for her birthday cakes and annual January fish fry. Her role as grandmother to her grandson gave her joy beyond measure. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Moews; an infant son; two brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include her son, Robert Moews of Emporia, and one grandson. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 606 S. Elm St., Louisburg. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. To leave condolences for the family go to www.penwellgabel.com. Arrangements are by Penwell-Gabel Louisburg Chapel, 120 S. Broadway St., Louisburg, KS 66053, (913) 837-4310.
