I went wedding dress shopping this past weekend with my mother and grandmother and I was horribly nervous. I was excited but I was also scared because I am not the size I want to be for my wedding day. My wedding is two years and six months away. I am currently a size 12 and I want to be a size 6. For some this may seem outlandish but once I put my mind to something I won't stop so, in this case I'm hoping for the best. Anyway, I believe there are a few things people should tell you before you go wedding dress shopping.

One: Your mother will cry, I think it's something about the veil gathered around your face that makes her lose it, and if you are like me when your mother cries, you only tear up a little to prove you are not a wimp.

Two: Wear something that you will be comfortable wearing in front of a total stranger. I had no idea wedding dresses were put on over your head and the dress shop assistant put them on you. I should have chose underwear with "fuller coverage" because I think each wedding dress shop assistant walked away with "blue moon" in her head.

Three: Don't get discouraged when you try on a dress that is too big, they just clamp it together with these bright orange clamp things, like the ones from my dad's tool box.

Four: On the other hand when you try on a dress that is too small they zip as far as it can go and offer you a piece of wedding cake, which I thankfully declined, I already felt like Jabba the hut when I couldn't get one zipped.

Five: When you try on a dress that fits perfectly and you don't want to take it off you know it's the one.

In a way finding a dress is like finding a fiancé. It has to be something that is your style, something that fits, something that makes your mom cry and something that you love with all your heart.
