If you see a young woman crying in downtown Louisburg today, don’t despair. The damsel is not distressed. Chances are those are tears of joy. “Some ladies cry. Some have just said, ‘I won’t get anything for Valentine’s Day,’ and we walk-in,” Erik Kingsley said. The Louisburg pastor and members of his New Life Family Church plan to hand out 400 roses to women at businesses throughout the community this morning. “We will be going to all the business areas where ladies might be at and give them a rose for Valentine’s Day,” Kingsley said. “We have done this for the past four years, and it’s amazing how touched ladies are. ... We have had 22-year-olds cry at Mr. Goodcents when receiving a rose. Some don’t know what to think.” Church members also will be giving out “Happy Valentine’s Day” cards that will include the church’s Web site, www.mynlfc.org. But Kingsley said attracting people to his church is not the point. “No matter if they ever step into the doors at New Life Family Church, they will know that somebody loves them and somebody cares about them, and that God is thinking about them,” he said. Kingsley is expecting a good crowd to follow him into the streets today. “Since school is out, we have a lot of kids that will be going out this year to help with this,” he said. “It’s going to be fun.”
