Donald Earl Padgett, 69, of Rohnert Park, Calif., formerly of Osawatomie, died at his home Jan. 29, 2009. Born June 21, 1939, to Earl Franklin and Velma Lorraine Miller Padgett, he was the first of four children. He attended school in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School. After graduation he moved to California. He spent four years in the U.S. Navy. He then went into the plumbing business with his uncle and spent nearly 50 years as a plumber. He enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and back to Kansas for family reunions and alumni gatherings. He was preceded in death by a brother, Micheal Padgett, and a grandson. Survivors include his three children, Donald, Kimberly and Kelly; mother, Velma Lore of Osawatomie; two sisters, Kathryn Elwood of Osceola, Mo., and Peggy Chase of Paola; and three grandchildren. He has been cremated. There will be no services.
