He was born March 8, 1921, in Fall City, Neb., to Eli Edward and Hazel Edna Lyman Bodine. He attended school in Miami County. He came to work for Leo and Violet Bristow in 1941 driving trucks and helping on the farm. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army, and when he was discharged in 1945, he came back to work and live with the Bristows. He became a part of their family and was just like an uncle to Fred Meisel and Sherry Snyder. He worked for J & J Metal Products Company as a delivery driver for 32 years before he retired. After his retirement, he drove cars for Lang Chevrolet and the local Chrysler dealership. He was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Ray; and four brothers, William, Robert, Albert and Raymond Bodine. Survivors are many nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly by family and friends. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071, (913) 294-2372. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Paola Cemetery.
